Reader Response #2

In the article," Two Ways a Woman Can Get Hurt": Advertising and Violence, by Jean Kilbourne talks about how women are being compared to products on advertising ads to show how the "perfect and attractive girl" for a man should look like. Each advertising ad explains what it means. Some advertising ads show that women are good for only one thing, sex and the other show violence towards women. Also how woman are consider a man's b**Ch.  One example, a picture of an ad on the article shows a woman with her hair being pulled by a handsome man.
Each advertising ad can mean a lot of things. An example is the jean advertisement saying "Wear it out and make it scream," with a man sliding his hands under a women's transparent shirt. It could mean seduction or could be an easy attack towards women. Advertisements are made every day. Most to get our attention on products, but they don’t think that advertising ads for women can us in so many ways.
According to Antonia Novello, the images we see on advertisement ads become numbed to us, just as we become numbed to daily news of women being raped, battered and killed. Most women are killed by the hands of their husband or boyfriend. This means that advertisements of this kind are the cause of men mistreating women and not valuing them for who they are.
These advertisements are a goal to being a success to the people who make these advertisements. They gain money from each product is sold by the company, but what these people don’t realize what matters the most is to value and respect woman for who they are and how they look like. Advertisements like these do not bring respect towards anyone.
